John Lynch named general manager of the 49ers

Welcome to another edition of the wild world of sports for Monday. In the “Are you nuts” category the San Francisco 49ers hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos linebacker John Lynch to succeed Trent Baalke who was terminated by the team at the end of the 2016 football season. There is a saying that goes “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” by George Santayana. My point is that Lynch has no experience as a general manager in the National Football League even though he did work with Fox Sports as a color commentator after his retirement in 2008.San Fransisco 49ers owner Jed York must have it in for the 49ers fans who were hoping that he would hire a former general manager who has a great track record of finding the talent of getting teams to get into a Super Bowl or playoff contention like Bill Polian who was the general manager with the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.I mean hiring a former football player who has no experience as a general manager to be the new general manager of the San Francisco 49ers is like asking me to write a script for a cartoon series. I will fall flat on my face since I know how to write fan fictions since I have control of my characters. But writing scripts for someone who sees my characters different than I do led to ego clashes between us. Look what happened with the New York Knicks when they hired Phil Jackson as the President Of Basketball Operations in 2014 despite not having any experience as an executive in the National Basketball Association. The Knicks are not in contention to make a playoff since Jackson joined the team in 2014 and the talking heads on the sports talk shows are complaining that James Dolan who owns the team does not care to give Knicks fans a winning team on the court.
